O Movimento Orgulho Autista Brasil (MOAB) é uma entidade nacional Não-Governamental, sem finalidades lucrativas, criado em 2005. É formado por pais, mães, amigos e simpatizantes da causa – todos voluntários.
Nosso objetivo principal é buscar a melhoria da qualidade de vida para as pessoas diagnosticadas com autismo e para as suas famílias. Para isso desenvolvemos uma série de ações, projetos e programas.
Entre outros, no âmbito do poder legislativo, o MOAB é o responsável direto pela elaboração da lei federal 12.764/12 (Lei Berenice Piana) e pela lei distrital 4.568/11 (Lei Fernando Cotta), que buscam a criação e a execução de políticas públicas para essa comunidade específica de pessoas que foram por muitos anos abandonadas pelo Estado brasileiro.
Por meio de parcerias com o poder público e privado, o Movimento realiza diversos eventos tais como audiências públicas, sessões solenes, atos públicos, palestras, cursos, encontros, seminários, passeatas, caminhadas, carreatas, Prêmio Orgulho Autista, Projeto Anjos Azuis, Desabafo Autista & Asperger, Blitz do Autismo, Autistas Plásticos, Autistas e Artistas, Autismo e Família, Autismo na Igreja, Autismo na Escola, Autismo & Universidade, etc.
O MOAB não recebe absolutamente nenhum recurso público, tendo os seus compromissos resolvidos advindos de contribuições de seus associados e doações realizadas por pessoas que acreditam na causa dos autistas.
