Indigenous Peoples Documentation, Research and Information Center
CHARTER
The Indigenous Peoples’ Center for Documentation, Research and Information (Docip) has as its objective the support of Indigenous Peoples in the defense of their rights within the relevant international institutions by gathering the necessary documentation and, among other things, by providing technical and linguistic assistance during sessions relevant to indigenous issues. Docip also provides them with useful information services and training.
Docip is a service organization that carries out only those activities that are specifically requested by Indigenous Peoples and only in full consultation with them.
Docip pursues only non-profit activities.
Docip, its Foundation Board, its Committee and its collaborators — whether they are paid or not — are forbidden from intervening in the defining of the goals, activities, and courses of action of Indigenous Peoples. Additionally, they do not take a position during negotiations on or promotion of the rights of Indigenous Peoples. Docip does not respond to political pressure, regardless of its source.
Docip follows the principles of confidentiality, neutrality, and impartiality, which are essential to the fulfillment of its duties.
